Another Science Story

The "cryochambers" of the Vorkosigan saga get a step closer to reality:

Boffins Create Zombie Dogs

(Hey, that's not my title, it's the one the article has.)

I think they deliberately picked the creepiest picture they could find, not to mention a really negative headline. I don't know, maybe it's echoes of "Frankenstein" still in the culture.

Another Quickie...

I see by SiteMeter that two people actually looked at this blog last week, so I suppose I should put some content here again...

Ancient Greek Computer Found

Hey, I was on vacation last week. Of course, since I've only been doing one update a week for the past month or more, that hasn't been very noticable, but still....

Time for the monthly update

Actually, it's not that I have lost interest in political news, it's just that I have surrendered to the fact that the people who do this all the time get the stories faster and tend to write better commentary than me, as well. So I've been busy reading Jesus' General, Eschaton, and Shakespeare's Sister, just to name a few. I suggest you go add them to your regular reading as well, if you aren't doing so already.

Yale Must Be So Proud Of Him...

Crooks and Liars has a segment of a speech given by our Glorious Leader where he informs us that "disassembers" are people who lie.

It would be funnier if a) it didn't happen so often; and b) if this wasn't the man that's supposedly leading the most powerful country in the world. Although at the rate these people are going, I wonder how long we'll be able to hold on to that title, as they seem to be determined to put science back to the Dark Ages where the church determines what's okay to be studied and what isn't. Strangely enough, I feel sure that the coming theocracy won't ban research into weapon systems, though.
